What is a Cone Crusher Head Nut?
A cone crusher head nut (also known as a mantle locking nut) is a heavy-duty, engineered fastener positioned at the top of the main shaft assembly. Its primary critical function is to firmly lock the manganese mantle wear liner to the main shaft. By securely anchoring the mantle, the head nut absorbs and transfers extreme crushing forces—often exceeding 2,000 kN—preventing the liner from shifting, loosening, or detaching during high-tonnage aggregate and mining operations.
